MAGX is a resin artist whose large-format work has shown across the international art fair circuit — including the Art Basel circuit, Spectrum Miami, and Red Dot. Black Ice carries that same sculptural language into an object meant to be lived with, not just admired: a chessboard built to be played, and striking enough to anchor a room when it isn't.
Cast by hand in smoked, translucent resin, the board shifts and deepens with the light around it, while matte-black squares sharpen the contrast into something closer to a gallery piece than a game set. No two boards leave the studio the same — each one is individually poured, with an organic, molten-glass edge that forms uniquely every time. The included 32-piece set, finished in glossy black and white, was made to match that same level of craft, whether it's hosting a real match or simply standing on display.
